Adriana Lisowska

Adriana Lisowska is a graduate of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. She works in sculpture, photography, and the broadly defined art of jewelry. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and artistic projects. She is a laureate of many competitions, including the Grand Prix at the Amberif Design Award in 2001 and 2004, and the Amber Prize at the Amberif Design Award in 2009 and 2015. Since 2007, she has co-created the artistic duo LIS² with Aneta Lis-Marcinkiewicz, and since 2013, she has been creating functional designs under the Gray Flamingo brand.

For her, jewelry is a message. As the artist claims: "Creating is like a conversation to me; through it, I can communicate with others and myself. It is a constant solving of puzzles, analyzing issues, interpreting signs, absorbing, processing, and transmitting energy—ceaseless processes aimed at capturing an idea and enclosing it within a jewelry form."

In her work, Adriana Lisowska is guided by the choice of material, technique, and all other means so that they best serve to express the content of the message. Material is not a determinant of value for her, which is why she allows herself to use not only traditional materials but also those less associated with the art of jewelry. The connection between jewelry and the body represents a value for her, which she uses to search for and assign meanings.

She draws themes for her works from all possible sources, most often from her immediate surroundings. One of the artist's favorite techniques is the use of context.

Adriana Lisowska's jewelry provokes thought, evokes emotions that go beyond aesthetic sensations, and supports the recipient in externalizing their own manifesto.
